Navigation

I’ve always liked using hamburger menus when they feel appropriate for the experience. In Madison’s case, the goal was to give her words and imagery as much space and focus as possible without the interface competing for attention. A compact navigation helped keep the layout clean and immersive while also creating another opportunity for branding and personality. To make the interaction feel a little more playful, I designed the menu so that hovering over navigation items swaps in imagery associated with each page – adding a bit of whimsy, visual storytelling, and an extra invitation to explore.
